Try to keep trade chatter restricted to here or email before league opens.

I know this isn't trade talk but wasn't sure where else to ask.
Harry, have you given any thought to how you are going to handle Otani? It looks as though yahoo is going to consider him two different players.

Jason, you are correct. Yahoo is creating Otani the SP and Otani the Batter...two different roster slots. Ben has him in his $1 MILB slot so think he is going to have to designate which player he wants and the other will be available in the draft.

That’s what my thought was. He can pick which one he wants and the other is available.

Totally disagree... Ben gets both players. That's how it works in real baseball.

I don't really care if we go that route, but, not sure how that logic works Lou. Otani holds two roster positions and two separate salaries in Yahoo. So does Ben get both players for $1 each? Is he allowed to promote them separately, or, do they have to go together? Does he get 6 MILB slots or does he have to give up another slot for both Otanis? Again, I'll support whatever the league wants on this...whatever is decided needs to be added to rules in case this scenario happens again in the future.

Yahoo is considering Otani as two completely independent players.
This may come up again sooner than later with Brendan McKay.
I’m fine with however it’s handled but it needs to be clarified.

This year it won't matter, as Otani is an MiLB guy. IMO, next year I think Ben will have to offer contracts as if he's two separate players. The important thing from my perspective is he has the rights to Otani the hitter and Otani the pitcher. It's up to him to decide what he wants to do with those rights.

Lou, I don't understand how you say it does not matter...the MILB roster is important and part of our overall rosters/budgets.
So Ben gets 6 players on his MILB roster...both Otani's (he is two different players according to Yahoo). Does he have to pay another $1 for the second Otani, or, does he get both for $1? Can he promote one and not the other? Can he drop one and not the other?
All of these questions need to be resolved.

Yes, I can promote Otani the pitcher or Otani the batter or both. He'd take 2 roster spots if I want to promote him as both. Next year, I'd have to offer him 2 contracts. I think that is fair. If y'all are so dead set on me not having 6 minor league players, I'll put him in an empty minor league spot. I don't really give a shit. BUT I own Otani the HITTER and the PITCHER for the next 6 years, IF I choose to give him a contract as a hitter AND a pitcher. I can also trade Otani as a pitcher or a hitter. To shut y'all up and end this conversation, I'll go ahead and declare one Otani as my $2 minor league player (since I have to do something with Hunter Renfroe this year). I'll decide before the roster locks which one is the $2 player and which one is the $1 player. Everybody happy now?

Ben, your solution makes sense to me.... So I vote "yes".

I’ll wait for the only opinion that really matters, Harry’s.

I'd like to hear from Harry on this. My thoughts: I don't give a rip, let Ben have a little something extra. It is not his fault everyone seems to think this guy who has never appeared in an MLB game is going to be a 2 way star. Does anyone really believe that the Angels will let him hit if he shows signs of greatness as a pitcher (or vice versa). It just does not happen, it is a marketing sideshow.

Technically, EVERY SP/RP is a "2 Way" player = (1) Often stepping into the batter's box and actually producing Fantasy numbers which impact scoring categories, and (2) Physically playing an on-the-field position. Of course, Yahoo does Not credit a fantasy team for whatever good or bad offensive fantasy numbers a pitcher produces. In our League, to permit Otani to be credited for BOTH what he does as an Offensive Player and as a Pitcher would be Unfair vs Yahoo Ignoring ALL the offensive numbers produced by a SP/RP. An SP/RP is doing the exact same thing that Otani Might be doing in 2018 MLB games = Pitching, Hitting, and many times playing an on-the-field position.

KK, there is are 2 huge differences in the Otani situation...Yahoo has split him into 2 different players/roster slots; and, Otani will be playing as a DH on off days when he is not pitching. This is new territory for Yahoo, MLB and fantasy baseball. Since Ben is willing to pay twice...for both Otani's and take up two roster spots, he is not getting any advantage over the rest of us....it is not unfair.
Looking forward, if we see a influx of true two-way players, we will need to address it...but, like Dennis, I highly doubt that is going to happen.
