Guys, I'm playing around with the idea of allowing 5 year Contract Extensions. What I have in mind (as of right now) is a $50 Contract Increase to Players Current Contract Amount to (Minor Leaguers only?, First year of Official Contract?, maybe something else -- definitely NOT a player in their Last Year of their Contract?) The Extension Salary would be IMMEDIATE, but the Length of the Contract would be in ADDITION to their Current Contract.
Let me know what you think.

I don't see the point/necessity of doing this. The lease with the option to buy setup of this league (draft, let a full season play out before actually giving a contract) already provides each manager with plenty of insight prior to issuing a contract. I don't even know how many players would fall into the category of wanting to extend by adding $50 to their current year salary and then wanting to extend that contract 5 years. In a league I used to run, we allowed managers to offer a one year extension for double the current salary of that player, but we also had to announce the contract duration immediately after the player was drafted.

Extensions would be one more Steinbrenner issue, so I'm against it. Let's let contracts expire and have some extra FA enter the draft each year.

What length of contract can you give to an MiLB player?

Is it 3 years of 5 years for a MiLB promotion?

Harry, the league spent a lot of time reviewing/revising and voting on the following proposals at end of last season. #1,2 & 4 were all voted for approval in a landslide; #3 was voted down in a closer vote. All votes and dialogue are still on the league message board if anyone cares to review it. I know you and I had emailed on this , but, never got a resolution. What is your game plan on these?
(1) Budget can be added in pre-season up to 1 week before deadline to give contracts.(currently there is no set date for giving contracts; I suggest we set this date as 1 week before draft, which would make FAAB cutoff 2 weeks before draft)
(2) Budget can be added in regular season up to 1 week after the trade deadline. (this allows managers to see results of trades and decide their FAAB strategy for end of season)
(3) 1 week after the trade deadline the "total FAAB" for the season is determined; 20% of the "FAAB added budget" will then be added and evenly distributed as budget to teams that did not add any budget during the season; this is additional budget and does not come out of any teams acquired budget. All $ that was used to purchase budget for the season goes into the pot for winners distributions.
(4) WP Category is changed to RAPP
