Admittedly I was pretty unfamiliar with Commissioning a basketball league, but I was pretty confident, with time, I could create a league that withstood the ramifications of GST's Standards of Excellence. This league started as GST's Auction Draft Basketball League.

2011 -- I had run a Free "Trial League" before this one. There is SUCH a DIFFERENCE between Yahoo Baseball Leagues and Basketball Leagues! We had a strong group from the start, represented by the fact half of the original GMs remain in the league, now years later! I was expecting nothing but great competition even for the inaugural season! We started with a 6 team Playoffs.
Regular Season Finish: 1. Cort Lords 2. Dataminator 3. You Will Hate Me 4. Long Island Brawler 5. Hudsanity Rolls On 6. Hondo 7. TakeU2School 8. Big Black 9. I Can't Jump 10. The Biz 11. Glassjumpers (Commish) 12. Sweat the Technique 13. Heat in LA 14. The Mile High
Championship Playoff Finish: 1. Cort Lords 2. Dataminator 3. Hudsanity Rolls On 4. You Will Hate Me 5. Long Island Brawlers 6. Hondo
At first I thought I had hit upon the right combination, but later on realized I was FAR from it. Score Lords DOMINATED the # of moves, the Regular Season, and the Playoffs. That was not any surprise to anyone, let alone me -- but it threw me off at first, because I put it down to his Overall Expertise instead of looking at the stats themselves. The most effective strategy was to have a transient team instead of a quality team. This is not what GST is built on. It really didn't show up until late in the season. I knew I had to make changes if I was to keep attendance at a high level. Anyway, it was a great experience -- and Cort Lords WAS Impressive!

2012 -- I knew I hadn't worked out the correct stat-line yet, but I was working feverishly to do so. I felt I NEEDED to somehow get GST basketball leagues on the same level as the GST baseball leagues, where quality is the higher priority over quantity. I ran all 3 GST basketball leagues with different stat-lines in my attempt. It is so hard, since teams do not have the same amount of players playing per week, and Yahoo not having DL slots for basketball made it even that much harder. I was closing in on it though! We expanded to 16 teams so the draft was VERY EXCITING and CHALLENGING!!
Regular Season Finish: 1. TakeU2School 2. Seattle Kings 3. Cort Lords 4. Bieber Schieber 5. You Will Hate Me 6. Dataminator 7. Heat in LA 8. Cliff Paul 9. Hoosier Daddy 10. Long Island Brawlers 11. Hondo 12. The LA Lakers 13. Bayside Tigers 14. Glassbankers (Commish) 15. Sweat the Technique 16. The Biz
My stat line was improving, despite the consternation it caused. There was STILL an advantage of quantity over quality, but it had narrowed. This might seemed silly, but TRUST ME -- it's NOT. The league definitely had the "haves" and the "have nots". When I looked through the Team Rosters, there still seemed to be an advantage over "transient themed strategy over quality. There was PLENTY of competition between the "HAVES" though! It WAS an EXCITING season! The battle on top was FIERCE! The need for extreme moves wasn't quite what it was Year 1, but it was still there. It was fun to see Cliff Paul take the Championship, as he was a great success story of a lower-level GST Am (free) league GM making it BIG in the GST Pro leagues!!

2013 -- After so much thought I gave myself a headache, I FINALLY found a stat-line using available Yahoo Basketball Stats that I felt confident would have GST Basketball leagues fall into the Standards of Excellence of the GST baseball leagues. A strategy balance was achieved. I was confident enough that, for the 1st time ever, all 3 GST basketball leagues ran the same stat-line! Of course the stat changes caused a mutiny, and, sadly, I lost my basketball-only GMs and close to others too! Luckily we picked up some of GST Top Pros to replace them. We went back to 14 teams.
Regular Season Finish: 1. Fantasy Hoops Legends 2. Waterloo Wildcats 3. Dataminator 4. Seattle Kings 5. Heat in LA 6. Score Lords 7. Glassbankers (Commish) 8. TakeU2School 9. Burke&Burke Law Firm 10. Hondo 11. Shang Hai Grand 12. Long Island Brawlers 13. Big L 14. The Cypher
Championship Playoff Finish: 1. Seattle Kings 2. Dataminator 3. TakeU2School 4. Waterloo Wildcats 5. Score Lords 6. Heat in LA 7. Glassbankers 8. Fantasy Hoops Legends
As a result of the stat changes, the league was much closer, and much more highly competitive than ever before. Different strategies abounded and played out equally. I was very PLEASED. I was also quite pleased to see GST newcomer Fantasy Hoops Legend top the league in the Regular Season! However, as good as he is in GST Baseball, Seattle Kings showed his True Calling to be Basketball! He POUNDED his way through the Playoffs, though his win over Dataminator in the Finals was, as you might expect, his Toughest Competition of the Playoffs. He is now considered a Heavy Favorite in any GST Basketball league he enters!

2014 -- This year we switched this league to a Snake Draft. We finally put the Stat-Line (mostly) behind us, and got down to Competing!
Regular Season Finish: 1. Heat in LA 2. Long Island Brawlers 3. Deng & Dengier 4. My Warriors 5. Hoosier Daddy 6. Waterloo Wildcats 7. The Cypher 8. Wilt's Kids 9. Glassbankers (Commish) 10. 1 More Game 11. Yougottochill 12. Dataminator 13. Hondo 14. Score Lords
Championship Playoff Finish: 1. My Warriors 2. Deng & Dengier 3. Heat In LA 4. The Cypher 5. Long Island Brawlers 6. Hoosier Daddy 7. Waterloo Wildcats 8. Wilt's Kids
Surprisingly, the Biggest Movers won the Regular Season, just the opposite of prior years. Then My Warriors, a GST Rookie, squeaked his way through the Playoffs, only to win the Finals convincingly! Impressive, we KNOW how tough GST Regulars ARE!
High Win%: .603 Low Win%: .411

2015 -- This year we employed the new stats, DD and TD, created by Yahoo.
Regular Season Finish: 1. Hoosier Daddy 2. Heat in LA 3. Waterloo Wildcats 4. My Warriors 5. Score Lords 6. Ballz Deep 7. Outdoor Courts 8. Glassbreakers (Commish) 9. Wilt's Kids 10. Lisa Ann Does Fantasy 11. Pezoporikos Larnakas 12. The Cypher 13. Melo Dramatic 14. Hondo
Championship Playoff Finish; 1. My Warriors 2. Hoosier Daddy 3. Waterloo Wildcats 4. Outdoor Courts 5. Heat in LA 6. Ballz Deep 7. Score Lords 8. Glassbreakers
What a Hard Fought Season it was all season long, with Hoosier Daddy dominating only very late. Again it was My Warriors, out of nowhere, from the #4 spot, who proved his Playoo Mettle, becoming a Back-to-Back Champion!!!

Regular Season Finish: 1. Heat in LA 2. The Cypher 3. Score Lords 4. Lisa Ann Does Fantasy 5. Hoosier Daddy 6. Outdoor Courts 7. Ballz Deep 8. My Warriors 9. Pezoporikos Larnakas 10. Moon Drama 11. Glassbreakers (commissioner) 12. Hondo 13. Drunken Bastard 14. Wilt's Kids

Outdoor Courts decisively put an End to that storybook ending there though! To show you Close this league REALLY was: the 3 teams tied for the 2nd Best Win% and 2 teams tied for the Lowest Win%!
