I stand my ground in saying this is one of the toughest Am (free) leagues you'll find anywhere. In fact it can be demoralizing. It is usually dominated by 1 or 2 teams, the likes of GrandSlam Vet, Letters from Iwamura, Express, and Bleach in the past. It wasn't dominated at all this year! Actually it looked like it would be, as Sloandog (one of GST's eldest GMs and one of my personal favorites) finally came into his own and was truly dominant at first, until getting caught by the field halfway into the 2nd half. After that it was just a slugfest. I had my worst showing ever and Bleach squeaked it out over 3rd Rail Productions, who had been the long time leader (same division) for the regular season again in the last weeks of the season. However it was Anti-Yankee, who came from the weakest of the 3 divisions and finally made his first playoff--who won it all! Big Congrats that!! Extremely well deserved!
Personal story about this league 2 seasons ago. I was sitting comfortably in 2nd, quite a ways ahead of 3rd--with only the bottom 4 teams left to play (who had just started winning big just then). I got trounced by all 4 of those teams--two who unbelievably made the playoffs--and got knocked all the way back to 9th, just out of the playoffs! At that point we had 2 teams under .400 win%--but the LOWEST win% for the entire league ended ABOVE .440!!! What a league!!!
